SKELETON KEY – Live at The Grog Shop in Cleveland, OH. December 7th, 2002

July 9, 2012

SKELETON KEY recently came out of a 5 year period of inactivity to release the excellent ‘Gravity is the Enemy’ album. Something of an underrated band with a distinct edge that is only ever found in music from NYC. Their sound fitted in somewhere between the rhythmic industrial clattering of Cop$hootCop and the tight precision of Barkmarket (Dave Sardy produced their first album). This combined with a more sarcastic playfulness ensured they never verged into over serious Sonic Youth/Swans territory. There was an official  digitally released recording ‘Live at Metro 06/13/2004’ but this short set was recorded two years earlier via MiniDisc by Brett Wilms. It is a great set and the sound quality is good, very enjoyable for any fans of this little known band. Click image for DL
