BLUETIP – Peel Session 13/1/00

March 23, 2010

Bluetip, probably my favourite of all later 90s Dischord bands. It’s hard to pick a favourite album but I suppose the ‘Post Mortem Anthem’ collection has everything covered & probably one of the best designed sleeves Jason Farrell has given this world.  I knew somewhere I had a tape that contained this session, hearing it again is a definite treat. Not a whole lot of  difference between these versions and the one’s that went on to appear on ‘Polymer’. They played here in late 1999 (see above photo) to maybe 20 people, this didn’t seem to matter and rock was delivered like a well oiled machine. One thing this band had was consistency and a distinct sound that hadn’t existed before and has not been replicated.

You are the man. That gig was as spectacular as it was badly-attended. I didn’t see the posters until the day of the gig and rushed over to the Cumberland for one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

    Keep up the good work!
